What Is The Information Used For
For teachers to describe what they do next- instructionally. Most teachers do this informally, connect information from students to decide what they will do next. Second part of the pyramid. Diagnostic, informative- exit ticket at the end of your class or quiz to see if the students understand.
Subset from assessment for learning- students can self assess. Students become good self-reflected self- monitored thinkers. Students re-think and re-organize so they are able to see where they need to go next and where they need to go for help next. It prevents kids from being stuck in misconceptions. Teachers do this intentionally and it happens rarely, because teachers are so busy. This should be the biggest part of the pyramid. Summative- end of the unit- wrap it all up section you are teaching. Final mark producing bit.
What we do in classrooms. For decision making- when we say we are going to do a report for the parents- need evidence to make those judgments well. Third part of the pyramid. Each time you do assessment is a learning point.
